'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range shot from outside the box, and his teammate immediately converted the rebound before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an incredible recovery given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 during the second half. Amid the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory secured a next round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for having a go from that distance," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right defensive wing after the team changed tactics. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way Orient played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a popular figure across two seasons at Orient and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that growth for club and country, shining for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including home and away games against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who used to see his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I felt I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
